NEFFLON’s Special Features

Negative Static Property Anionic Environment Superior Heat Insulation Rapid Moisture Permeability NEFFLON’s Awards

NEFFLON can help you feel and look better every day!
NEFFLON is a highly acclaimed fabric that employs the use of a natural product, negative ions, to enhance your overall wellbeing. Decades of research into the health benefits of negative ions have produced a list of beneficial results:

  • Life-sustaining oxygen atoms are negatively ionized
  • People exposed to negative ions show brainwave patterns suggesting increased alertness and relaxation
  • Negative ions relax people in pain
  • Negative ions could destroy airborne bacteria
  • Negatively charged ions make air more refreshing to breathe

Amazing Negative Static Property
The electroscope in the chart (right) shows that after Teviron (the fiber used in our NEFFLON products) comes in contact with wool, Teviron will carry a negative static charge while wool carries a positive charge. In reference to the Static Comparison Chart, when wool comes into contact with nylon, it will carry a negative charge while nylon will carry a positive charge. However, once wool comes into contact with cotton, it then carries a positive charge while cotton in turn carries a negative charge. In contrast, Teviron will carry a negative charge no matter what material it comes into contact with. Wearing NEFFLON, Teviron fiber garments, with its negative static property, is beneficial to your body. During extreme air movements, negatively charged ions shoot down or attack positively charged objects on the ground. If your body is positively charged, the positive ions will rush up to create an electric charge. An electric charge can be very damaging to your body, or even deadly, as your muscles contract explosively.

Anionic Environment
All gas molecules, smoke particles, and other air pollutants such as bacteria, chemicals, viruses, fungus spores, and particles of moisture (that affect human health) are positively charged. In correlation from this understanding, environments such as beaches, pine forest, vineyards, and the tropics are all places high in negative ions. The anionic environment is a negative ion surrounding proven to destroy airborne pollutants and provide many healthy benefits. Negative ions can ease away aches and pains, clean the air from bacteria that cause colds and respiratory infections, increase concentration and alertness, and help aid in relaxation, and a better night’s sleep. Staying close to negative ions such as wearing NEFFLON is a wise health choice, especially when anionic environments are so far away from our cities, offices, and homes.

Superior Heat Insulation
Controlled tests* were conducted to compare the heat insulation capabilities of different materials with identical thickness. As shown by the chart on the right, the skin surface temperature differences between an unclothed area and an area covered with 100% Teviron were plotted at different room temperature along the vertical axis. The same process was repeated on the same subject using 100% acrylic, 100% wool, 100% rayon, and 100% cotton. The results were also recorded in the same chart, proving NEFFLON a much warmer material because of its Teviron fiber. At 25° Celsius (77° Fahrenheit), the temperature difference of each material shows little disparity. However, as the room temperature drops to 5° C (41° F), the gap in temperature difference among the different materials begins to widen substantially, making NEFFLON a leader in heat insulation.

The image on the left demonstrates the incomparable heat insulation properties of Teviron. The subject wearing a NEFFFLON Long-sleeve Undershirt (Item ID 2100) made with the Teviron fiber on his right side and a wool shirt on his left side. The heat sensor was used to register the temperature of the subject’s upper extremities, and results were projected onto a computer in the form of different color shading, with higher heat dissipation represented by warmer colors. When the laboratory temperature was set to 5° C (41° F), the difference in color shows that the subject’s right side dissipates less heat than his left side (covered by wool). The superior heat insulation of NEFFLON is undeniable.

Rapid Moisture Permeability
Heat insulation for the purpose of protecting a body can be warm and dry, but can also be stifling and uncomfortable when sweat clings to the skin inside certain fabrics. Since NEFFLON does not absorb moisture and has rapid sweat dispersion, it retains warmth efficiently while providing complete dryness for the skin. Zero moisture absorbency may lead people to think that NEFFLON is not breathable; the chart on the right proves otherwise. Think of moisture as a group of little particles trying to run a race and the goal is the evaporation zone. Since cotton absorbs moisture, the little particles are absorbed and trapped inside the cotton fiber; these particles are in essence running a hurdle race. It’ll take some time for the particles to finish the race. Whereas, NEFFLON does not absorb those little particles, instead they pass through the weave in straight, non-obstructed channels, and can reach the evaporation zone instantaneously, rendering the wearer dry and comfortable.

The next chart (left) is taken from a study conducted by the Carl Marx Textile Research Institute of Germany. By keeping time constant, for example, 5 seconds, liquid can travel 15 cm of NEFFLON through the Teviron fiber, but only 10 cm of acrylic fiber, and a measly 5 cm of cotton. In other words, NEFFLON’s moisture dispersion rate is 3 times faster than cotton, and two times faster than acrylic.

So far, the previous tests have been performed on the materials alone. The following exercise (chart on right) puts Teviron to the test on humans. A subject was asked to wear a shirt made especially with Teviron on the left and cotton on the right side. The subject started to exercise and was asked to stop after 5 minutes. The moisture levels of both sides of the shirt were measured and plotted on the graph (right). The cotton side dried after approximately 40 minutes, and the Teviron side took only 10 minutes to dry because of its sweat dispersion technology. NEFFLON made with the Teviron weave has the same results, including the dispersion of sweat in areas where NEFFLON supports, socks, and undergarments are subjected to extreme moisture permeability.
